My good friend leant me this book, Girl, Woman, Other, and I have just finished it.  This is a book which has been receiving a great deal of attention and I understand why, it is very well crafted and full of interesting, likeable characters offering an insight into female lives, feminism and cultural identity among other themes. Am Reading – but maybe a tiny bit weeping too. Such a beautiful book.  Dear Edward by Ann Napolitano takes through a roller coaster of emotions and is one of the best books I have read for a while. Love it. 

Tom Hanks. If you don’t love him already then by the end of his collection of short stories, Uncommon Type, you definitely will! Each story is perfect to read in about 15 -20 minutes which means you get to enjoy delving into a slice of literary Americana in the same amount of time it takes for your kid’s attention span to lapse. I have just finished reading the most remarkable book. Ever. One by Sarah Crossan is written in free verse and is simply beautiful.  Heart-breaking and yet totally up-lifting. Remarkable.

Following the inaugural meeting of our new book club it’s time to start a new book.  I’m off to the Alaskan winter with ‘The Snow Child’ by Eowyn Ivey.  So excited.
