Finally, I have found the photo I referenced in a previous post (Clothkits Fundraiser). My memory was a little off what with it being my fifth and not sixth birthday, and the outfit actually being a skirt and waistcoat combo (this was 1981 in deepest Somerset after all). But it was my best birthday cake EVER and one of my most favourite childhood outfits.
If you’d like to share any childhood gems, I’d love to see them – share on twitter (#childhoodgems), or include a link to a post on your own blog, share a comment and maybe a photo or two…
I am linking this to WhattheRedheadSaid and the ‘Living Arrows’ link up.

Oh god, my mum used to make me clothkits stuff too. I remember wearing a browny-beige cordouroy pinafore dress with brown heart buttons for my 8th birthday treat – a meal out to a Happy Eater!

That sounds gorgeous (well apart from the colour perhaps) and what happened to all the Happy Eaters??? x

God knows. I used to love getting a badge from there. Much preferred it to Little Chef although maybe the browns and yellows were a bit 70s for the 80s/90s

That photo sums up my childhood. I hope my kids have a photo that does that too!
